Amy Dawson

Counselor A-G

I began my school counseling career in 2010. I have K-12 counseling experience. I attended Eastern Michigan University where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. From there, I attended Oakland University and earned my Master of Arts in School Counseling.

I grew up in South Lyon. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to work and live in Huron Valley School District. I am a proud mother of two children, Leah and Alexander. My husband Joe is an Energy Engineer. In our free time, we enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, gardening, trail riding, swimming and horseback riding. We love animals and have added two dogs, a lizard and salt water fish to our family.

I work with my students on their academic, career and social emotional needs. I focus on guiding students to available resources, aiding students in self-advocacy and opening the lines of communication between parents, students and the Lakeland community. My goal is for my students to make the most out of their high school experience to best prepare themselves for their postsecondary plans.
