Dear Highland Elementary families,

I am so excited to join this community of incredible students, supportive families, and dedicated staff as the next principal of Highland Elementary School. Huron Valley Schools mean so much to me. I live within our school district and my son attends Huron Valley Schools. I am tremendously proud to work in the community in which I live. You have my commitment, from day one, that with our team I will provide and nurture a high-quality educational experience for your children.

I have been a part of Huron Valley Schools since 2002, working in various capacities. My career began as a teacher at Lakewood Elementary School. Shortly thereafter, I was transferred to Heritage Elementary School and enjoyed teaching there for 15 years. The last two years, I served Huron Valley Schools as a JK-12 teacher leader and Huron Valley Education Association president. I am a recent graduate of the Galileo Leadership Academy. I hold an Education Specialist degree from Oakland University in Educational Leadership where I obtained my K-12 administrator certificate. My Master’s degree is in Curriculum and Instruction from Marygrove College and I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Central Michigan University. I am proud to have served on a wide range of HVS committees, including many that have had a direct impact on Highland Elementary School.

I believe that these experiences have given me a strong foundation to support Highland’s student-centered approach to learning and Huron Valley Schools’ mission of: Inspiring and Building Futures, One Student at a Time. It is important to me to maintain the Highland family atmosphere, continue a culture of high expectations for student achievement, support social-emotional learning and well-being, create a safe school community, and foster strong school-family relationships. I am committed to building strong partnerships with Highland’s parent community, understanding that relationships with families are vital to student success. I am dedicated to a smooth transition while listening and honoring the traditions, experiences, and values that make Highland Elementary an incredibly special school that is so important to you and your children. I look forward to meeting all of you very soon.
