What is Schools of Choice?
Huron Valley Schools is a Schools of Choice district. Under Schools of Choice Section 105, Huron Valley Schools may enroll students from another school district within Oakland County providing the student meets the application guidelines.
Schools of Choice Section 105c, allows Huron Valley Schools to enroll students from school districts outside of Oakland County in a contiguous Intermediate School District (ISD) such as Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Macomb, Washtenaw & Wayne Counties providing the student meets the application guidelines.
Parents are responsible for the transportation of Schools of Choice students to and from school. The Transportation Department may consider providing transportation services for School of Choice students, assigning them to the nearest bus stop on existing bus routes, if space is available. Applications for transportation services will be taken by the Transportation Department and will be reviewed on a first come first serve basis. However; requests will not be processed or approved until a minimum of three weeks after the start of the school year. If you are requesting transportation services, please email the Transportation Department at ParentLink@hvs.org with your student information and the Schools of Choice Transportation Request Form (that is found on their webpage under forms). Parents need to have other transportation arrangements in place for three weeks of the school year and possibly all year as there is no guarantee that the Transportation Department will be able to provide service.
2020-21 Second Semester Schools of Choice:
Huron Valley Schools applications for the second semester of the 2020-21 school year will be available January 8, 2021 through January 22, 2021 for grades JK-9 with the exception of Country Oaks Elementary grades 1st - 5th which will not be accepting applications.
Please Note: Not every building will have space available in all grade levels.
Once accepted, students may remain in Huron Valley Schools until graduation if the student complies with all guidelines for schools of choice. Parents of schools of choice students are expected to provide transportation to and from school.
The first day of second semester is Monday, January 25, 2021. The student must be enrolled and attending by January 29th, or their space will be forfeited.
2020-2021 Second Semester - International Academy (IA) West Applications:
Unlimited 105 (Oakland County students) and 105c (resides outside Oakland County) applications for the 2020-21 second semester school year are being accepted for 9th grade only for the International Academy. Applications will be available January 1, 2021 until January 15, 2021. The Schools of Choice application must be submitted with the International Academy West application.
The first day of second semester is Tuesday, January 19, 2021. The student must be enrolled and attending by January 22nd, or their space will be forfeited.
