White Lake Middle School students will participate in many career focused activities throughout the year. Below, you will find a list of activities for each grade. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact student services.

6th grade:

Students will learn the difference between a career and a job.
Students will learn about the six Michigan Career Pathways. 
Students will match their interests and abilities to a career pathway using the Career Pathways Interest Inventory.

7th grade:

Students will review Career Pathways.
Students will utilize Bridges software to identify their possible career interests. Students also participate in a Career Day where they hear presentations representing each career pathway.

8th grade:

Students will complete Career Matchmaker using Career Cruising. Students complete an Educational Development Plan (EDP) which documents and follows them throughout high school. Students will also have the opportunity to attend a career field trip matching their current top career pathway.

What are the six Michigan Career Pathways? Arts and Communications, Business, Management, Marketing, and Technology, Engineering/Manufacturing and Industrial Technology, Health Sciences, Human Services, and Natural Resources and Agriscience.

What is Career Cruising?

Career Cruising is a web-based career exploration and planning tool that can be used to explore career and education options. Features of the program include: interest and skills assessments, detailed career profiles, multimedia interviews, college, university, and apprenticeship information, electronic career portfolio, and resume builder.

How can I view my child’s EDP?

If you are the parent of an 8th grader you may look at their Electronic 
EDP by accessing Career Cruising. You can login at Career Cruising (User name: whitelake and password: huron). Students will need to enter their password to obtain their personal information when they click the EDP button.
