DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Grade Level: 11, 12 only 
Required Pre-Requisite: Fundamentals of Art and Design 
FEE: $30 

This course is an introduction to basic digital camera skills, exploring basic camera functions, compositional strategies and photo management (saving, naming, organizing, uploading & printing). Students will experiment with basic software editing using programs such as GIMP and Adobe Photoshop. Students will complete weekly Photo Journals to explore their camera techniques, composition skills and various project ideas. Projects will vary from Letter Photography, Joiner Collages, Pop-Up Photos, etc. In addition, students will develop the Lobby Installation Project, complete with signature class photo as well as print their best 5 photos each card marking. 

*Note: Students will have the opportunity to leave campus for off-site photo shoots per parental permission and grade status in the class. 

*Required Equipment: Digital Camera (Point & Shoot is acceptable for this course only), SD Card & Reader, USB Storage Device (Flash drive or external hard drive), personal laptop can be helpful. Note: a DSLR camera (ability to shoot in manual mode) is required for advanced level courses.

ADVANCED DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY (LEVels 2 - 8)

Grade Level: 11, 12 only 
Required Pre-Requisite: Fundamentals of Art and Design & Digital Photography 
FEE: $35

This course will allow students to have a deeper exploration of digital photography techniques, exploring the world of “manual” control. Students will learn to adjust the shutter speed, aperture and metering options to capture visually unique compositions. In addition, students will delve into more complicated adjustment layers and filters in photo-editing software such as GIMP and Adobe Photoshop. Students will expand on their weekly Photo Journals into a digital photo album to explore their camera techniques, composition skills and various project ideas. Projects will vary from Panoramic views, stop-motion photography, altered 3D photos, Story Boards, Self Portrait Compilations, etc. In addition, students will develop the Lobby Installation Project, complete with signature class photo as well as print their best 5 photos each card marking. 

*Note: Students will have the opportunity to leave campus for off-site photo shoots per parental permission and grade status in the class.
