CREATIVE METALS

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 
Required Pre-Requisite: Fundamentals of Art and Design 
FEE: $35

This course is an introduction to working with metals. Students will focus on 3 dimensional design while learning various metal-smithing techniques such as soldering, annealing, cutting, chain mail / jump rings. A variety of jewelry and 3 dimensional designs will be created. Students will also experiment with various finishing touches such as buffing, tumbling, addition of patinas, copper enameling and more. Projects will be created using copper but other precious metals and stones can be purchased at additional costs.

 ADVANCED CREATIVE METALS (Levels 2 - 8)

Grade Level: 9, 10, 11, 12 
Required Pre-Requisite: Fundamentals of Art and Design & Creative Metals 
FEE: $40

This course is designed to be a deeper exploration into creative metals. The emphasis is on construction, craftsmanship and working to improve metal-smithing techniques. Students will explore the processes of lost-wax casting, resin, texture press, advanced soldering techniques and chasing, the general shaping of metal. Projects will be created using copper and white bronze but other precious metals and stones can be purchased at additional costs.
