Class Descriptions

Huron Valley Gymnastics @ Duck Lake Center
Parent-Tot, Preschool, Recreational & Competitive Teams

Vault, Uneven bars, Balance beam, 40 x40 floor exercise mat

Staff consists of current and former athletes with backgrounds in education, cheerleading, dance and gymnastics

Red/White/Blue-Preschool Gymnastics Program

For boys and girls ages 18 months- 4 years old.  Students will get their first experience with the wonderful sport of gymnastics.  Balance, strength, coordination and flexibility are just a few of the elements they will be developing. 

Recreational Gymnastics

For girls and boys 5-14 years of age.  Gymnasts will be instructed on all pieces of equipment.   Strength, balance, flexibility, body awareness and agility are all concepts worked on.

Class descriptions:

Beginning- We will work on all equipment, but main emphasis will be to learn a good cartwheel.

Intermediate- If you can do a cartwheel and are working on round-offs and back walkovers this is the class for you.

Advanced-This is our most advanced class before competitive teams.  Gymnasts should be able to do a back walkover and working a back handspring.  

Tumbling- Gymnasts, cheerleaders or dancers who wish to work on strictly tumbling skills at all levels.

High School- For those high school students who are thinking about trying out for the high school gymnastics team, cheerleaders who need to polish up some skills or dancers who want to work on gymnastics skills. 

Team Gymnastics

Silver and Gold team are competitive.  These gymnasts compete in 8 meets per year in the Michigan Recreational Gymnastics League.  Try-outs are August 25 at the Duck Lake Center Gym.

Open Gym- Preregistration is requested, $10 or $12 at the door.

Preschool Open Gym- Bring in your 18mo. – 3 yr.  old to play on the equipment in this semi structured open gym.

Special Needs Open Gym- A special time for students with special needs to come and experience gymnastics in a semi structured open gym setting.  We will work to keep a small ratio, one-on-one caregivers are welcome to attend at no fee.

Recreation Open Gym- Current students in our recreation gymnastics program or students new to Huron Valley Gymnastics can come in for this one hour semi structured open gym to work on skills or just have some fun and play on the equipment.

Team Tryouts

Come and try out for our awesome Gold and Silver team here at Huron Valley.  Join the fun next year as we compete against other local teams.  Gymnasts should be familiar with all pieces of equipment.  No spectators allowed in the gym during tryouts.  If you are unavailable to tryout with your assigned session contact Shannon Gohrmann at 248-676-8497.
